Scopes Trial Photos
In the U.S., few trials have had an impact on science & religion as great as Tennessee v. John Thomas Scopes. One site even calls it the world's most famous trial. There are many sources for information about the trial (see this NPR site for a good timeline & overview of the trial), and you can now add one more to your list. The Smithsonian Institution has discovered photos in their collection documenting the people in the trial. View them at Flickr to see the actual people in the trial-- including William Jennings Bryan and Clarence Darrow and, of course, several of John Scopes. And, if you haven't seen it before, take a chance to watch Inherit the Wind. One of my favorite films of all time.
